This service aims to provide quick and efficient access to printed library materials that are not permitted for external borrowing (such as reference works, periodicals, book chapters, or articles from academic theses) to enable faculty members, students, and researchers to benefit from them remotely.
Policy for Scan & Deliver Services Fayza Aboulnaga Central Library:
What May Be Scanned and Delivered:
- Reference Materials: Specific chapters or sections from reference books, encyclopedias, dictionaries, atlases, and yearbooks.
- Academic Periodicals: Specific articles from academic periodicals available in the library.
- Book Chapters: Specific chapters or parts from books available in the library, especially those with insufficient copies for borrowing or single-copy books.
- Academic Theses (Chapters/Articles): Specific articles or chapters from academic theses available in the library, provided the purpose is purely educational or research-oriented.
- Special Nature Materials: Parts of textbooks of a special nature or with a limited number of copies may be scanned for professors and teaching assistants who teach the respective course.
What May Not Be Scanned and Delivered:
- Materials Entirely Subject to Copyright: Scanning an entire book or a significant portion of it is not permitted if it violates copyright laws, unless special permission has been obtained.
- Entire Academic Theses: Scanning an entire academic thesis is not permitted.
- Materials Susceptible to Damage During Digitization: Fragile or damaged materials that may be harmed during the scanning process.
- A Large Number of Pages from a Single Source: Scan requests must be limited to a reasonable and specific portion (e.g., one chapter from a book, one article from a periodical) and not the entire work.
- Materials Already Available Electronically: Users should verify if the material is already available electronically via the library's databases or open-access sources before submitting a request.

Request Submission and Service Processing Mechanism:
- Submitting requests: Requests are submitted via a dedicated Google Form on the library's website, specifying the details of the requested item. Link of Google Form
- Processing Time: Requests are processed within 3-5 business days) from the date of receipt. This period may be extended during peak times or for complex materials.
- Delivery: Delivery: Scanned materials are sent to the recipient's email. Files must be in PDF format.
- Scan Quality: The library is committed to providing scanned materials of good and clear quality.
User Responsibilities:
- Fair Use: The user agrees to use the scanned materials for personal educational or research purposes only, and not to redistribute, publish, or use them for commercial purposes.
- Copyright Compliance: The beneficiary acknowledges that the use of scanned materials is subject to intellectual property laws and bears full responsibility for any violation of these rights.
- Accuracy of information: The beneficiary is responsible for the accuracy of the information provided in the scanning request.
General Provisions:
- Fayza Aboulnaga Central Library reserves the right to reject any request that does not comply with this policy or with intellectual property laws.
- The Scan & Deliver service is not available during inventory periods or during the updating of data related to library holdings.
